Melbourne is such a diverse city, in fact it would be hard to match all the wonderful activities and attractions this city has to offer. Do explore by clicking on the headings below:
Known to be the sporting capital of Australia and it’s not just one sport that dominates here.
Melbourne is home to the world famous Melbourne Cup horse race, the MCG is here and hosts the worlds biggest cricket matches; the Melbourne marathon is Australia’s biggest running event, the Australian Open tennis is held every January, and it’s also home to the Australian Grand Prix, now that is diverse.
If you are into more cultural pursuits, arts and drama reign here as well. World Class Opera and Ballets are performed here regularly as well as the hosting of renowned art exhibitions.
Foodies will love Melbourne dining; Southbank being a popular restaurant strip along the Yarra River and the famous little Italy, Lygon Street just north of the CBD. China Town adds the wonderful Asian Flavours. Melbourne has the largest Greek community outside of Greece, so naturally their cuisine is well represented in and around Lonsdale Street in the city.
And for something different dine on a Melbourne tram.
Kids love Melbourne as well. The Melbourne Museum is huge and not a fusty old musty one, it’s modern, interesting and fun and it will fill up a whole day. The Melbourne Zoo is another great day out for families of all ages. Science Works Museum has been voted a kids favourite and proves science is never boring.
And there is more; shopping, parks, gardens, beaches and a vibrant nightlife. If this sounds all too tiring, one of the most relaxing and easiest things to do in Melbourne is jump on an old heritage tram and travel around the city for free.
